A traditional German dish featuring meatballs in a creamy caper sauce.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 200 grams ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 100 grams breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 50 grams butter
  • 200 ml beef broth
  • 200 ml cream

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, ground pork, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, mustard, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into medium-sized meatballs.
  3. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Fry the meatballs until browned all around.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  6. Add the cream and capers, stir gently, and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, soak the breadcrumbs in milk before mixing.
  • Adjust the amount of capers to taste.
  • Serve with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for garnish.
